Welcome to Schartner House at Carroll Village

Named in honor of the former Presbyterian Homes Chief Executive Officer, Reverend Albert Schartner, these affordable apartments are ideal for seniors age 62 and over looking for close proximity to shops and services. According to Steve Proctor, Al's successor, "Al always believed that Presbyterian Homes could be whatever the changing needs of the aging needed it to be". Driven by this belief, Schartner expanded the Presbyterian Home's services into areas that went far beyond the organization's original scope of residential care, to include a full continuum of services to seniors. This vision continues with the development of Carroll Village, and in particular, Schartner House.

Positioned at the main entrance of the campus and the heart of the Village Center, Schartner House will be a hub of activity. The building will include indoor social spaces as well as outdoor connections to the green space within the campus and surrounding area. Community amenities within walking distance to the apartments will include a proposed community building, access to existing commercial and retail establishments, and recreational trails and walkways in the wooded areas of the campus.

The apartment building features a dynamic living room foyer off of the front porch. Other gathering spaces within the building include a community room, common laundries and large lobbies on each floor. One and two-bedroom units include individual verandas overlooking the streets and sidewalks. All units have a parking space in the ground floor garage.
