Named in honor of the former Presbyterian Homes Chief Executive Officer, Reverend Albert Schartner, these affordable apartments are ideal for seniors age 62 and over looking for close proximity to shops and services. According to Steve Proctor, Al's successor, "Al always believed that Presbyterian Homes could be whatever the changing needs of the aging needed it to be". Driven by this belief, Schartner expanded the Presbyterian Home's services into areas that went far beyond the organization's original scope of residential care, to include a full continuum of services to seniors. This vision continues with the development of Carroll Village, and in particular, Schartner House.

Positioned at the main entrance of the campus and the heart of the Village Center, Schartner House will be a hub of activity. The building will include indoor social spaces as well as outdoor connections to the green space within the campus and surrounding area.
